Most parts of the country are likely to witness fair weather conditions for the next about four days, between 24th and 27th January 2025.  Leave aside the mid and higher reaches of the mountains, which will brace the severe cold but without the fresh snowfall, typical pleasant wintry weather conditions will prevail, elsewhere. Especially, the comfort levels are likely to rise in the semi-arid region of Rajasthan and meadows of the northern plains.

The last week of January dictates thick and severe winters for the country. Northern parts are frequently ravaged by the mighty western disturbances and their off-shoot circulations in the plains. Neither of these is present, anywhere in the region. The last one sprinkling the northern plains around mid-week has already vacated the region. The typical winter chill in the wake of the system is keeping the minimum temperatures, mostly in single digits across Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Other than shallow to moderate fog and seasonal chill, no other significant weather is expected for this duration.

Central parts of the country face the least threat of any inclement weather conditions around this time of the year. As such, the displacement of seasonal anticyclones from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to Maharashtra and Telangana has raised the chances of fair weather over the central parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The eastern states of the country have similar conditions and Bihar, Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha will enjoy dry weather conditions between 24th and 27th January 2025.

Low-level Valley easterly winds are prevailing over the northeastern region. These are indicative of good weather spells for these states. The entire region is likely to observe clear weather conditions. Scattered fog and mist, as such, remain a regular feature. Isolated weather activity is quite possible over far-flung areas of Arunachal Pradesh.

The southern parts of the country have been frequently visited by the equatorial disturbances.  Decent rain and thundershowers have been witnessed by Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the last week. The weather activity has taken a pause for now for this region. The moving disturbances will impact Sri Lanka, Comorin and Maldives region for the next four days and spare the southern states from any significant weather activity during this period. The next wet spell for Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka is expected between 28th and 31st Jan 2025.
