Light Bangalore rains to persist for next 2 days

August 29, 2016 1:13 PM |

Ever since the arrival of Southwest Monsoon in Bangalore, the city has been enjoying light to moderate rainfall almost every day. These showers range from a traceable amount to double digit figure.

However, past 2-3 days were disappointing for Bangalore as the capital city of Karnataka failed to observe much rains. During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Bangalore has hardly observed any rainy spell.

In fact, the last good showers that the city managed to witness were on August 25 where it has recorded 15 mm rainfall.

As there is no significant weather system prevailing over the region, therefore, Bangalore has been unsuccessful in observing any rains. However, the capital city is likely to witness few scattered light showers due to an off shore trough that is passing from Maharashtra to Kerala.

Also, a cyclonic circulation that persists over Marathwada and adjoining areas is also extending up to mid-tropospheric level. This is also likely to give some rainy spells over the city.

The average monthly rainfall for Bangalore stands at 142. 5 mm and till date, the city has observed 50.7 mm rainfall. Which means the rains for the city are lagging by a huge number.

Winds are also expected to move from westerly to south westerly. Therefore south interior Karnataka including Bangalore is expected to witness partly cloudy sky becoming cloudy in the afternoon. Alongside, rain and thundershowers along with few light spells are expected over the city for another 48 hours.

The city of ‘startups in India’ may also witness comfortable morning and evening with temperatures settling in lower 20’s. However, afternoons may be little warmer with temperatures reaching upto 28°C or 29°C.
