Light Delhi rains to revisit

July 5, 2017 9:48 AM |

Cloudy weather in Delhi

After Southwest Monsoon made an onset over Delhi and NCR, it was thought that Delhi rains will batter the city with good and long lasting rains. However, the situation turned out to be completely different from the national capital and adjoining regions and with the arrival of Southwest Monsoon over Delhi and NCR, rains vanished making the weather dry and warm again.

Though the weather condition became pleasant yesterday during the evening hours with the mild cool breeze blowing over most parts of the city. But Delhi rains played its notorious part and occurred in highly localized areas. So much so that while in the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Safdarjung Observatory recorded 1 mm of rainy traces, Palam Observatory did not record any rain.

However, a sigh of relief is now foreseen for Delhiites who are reeling under warm weather conditions as some light rains are anticipated to show up in parts of Delhi and adjoining regions like Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad today and may continue for another 48 hours.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is seen extending from North Punjab up to Manipur across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and North West Bengal. This trough is in close proximity to Delhi and hence rains may occur in parts of the capital of the country. Moreover, the presence of a Western Disturbance in the higher levels is over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. In addition to this, an induced cyclonic circulation is also seen over North Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana.

All these weather systems will be responsible for bringing rains over Delhi and NCR. However, these rains will be of a short duration and will not do many wonders on the temperature profile. Due to which warm and humid weather will continue to prevail. Though heavy showers are ruled out to make an appearance over the capital for the country and adjoining regions for at least the next 2-3 days.
