Likewise, Surat has also witnessed light to moderate rains in past one week and in the last 24 hours; the district had received heavy rainfall of 43 mm. Also, Valsad saw heavy to very heavy rainfall in last 3 to 4 days.

Meanwhile, in Kutch region, Naliya and Kandla have recorded scattered showers while Okha and Bhuj remained almost dry with isolated activity.

These rain and thundershowers can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation that persists over South Pakistan and adjoining Kutch region of Gujarat.

Skymet Weather expects this cyclonic circulation to persist for another 24 to 48 hours, giving scattered showers over many parts of Gujarat. The intensity of these rains is likely to be less and heavy showers are not anticipated as of now over the region.

This circulation is expected to move gradually towards westwards, as a result rain and thundershowers activities will further decrease over Gujarat.

During the last week, good showers that have lashed Gujarat will be an added benefit to the Kharif crops.

According to Skymet Weather, Gujarat region is rain deficient by 6% however Saurashtra and Kutch region by 42% on June 27.
