Heavy rains remained away from the dazzling city of India that it’s known for. In fact, in the month of August, Mumbai has not recorded any heavy rain activity. But light to moderate rains continued over the region. Barely had the city went completely dry.

The last 24 hours were also no different over Mumbai. In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, the Santa Cruz Observatory recorded 5 mm of rain, whereas the Colaba Observatory observed 10 mm of showers.

The reason for these light rains can be attributed to the weakened cyclonic circulation over North Coastal Maharashtra.

However, now a cyclonic circulation has developed over South Pakistan and adjoining Kutch region. Due to this, southwesterly winds will strengthen over the Maharashtra capital which may enhance the rain activity to some extent. But still heavy rains are ruled out.

Weathermen at Skymet Weather expect light rains with isolated moderate spells to continue over the area for the next 24 to 48 hours. The weather will remain humid and warm and the sky will remain partly cloudy to cloudy.

Till now, the fashion city of India has recorded rainfall to the tune of 125.9 mm as against its monthly average rainfall of 529.7 mm. As not much variation in the rain intensity is likely, it seems a bit hard for the city to surpass its monthly mean.
