Bengaluru Rains

Bengaluru has been witnessing on and off light rains from almost a month. While June ended on a dry note, the month of July kick started with a few traces of rains.

Though heavy rains have not appeared in Bengaluru, continuous light rains almost every day has dropped the temperatures giving the people in Bengaluru another reason to rejoice. Due to the continuous light rains, the mercury levels also settled in higher 20’s and have seldom crossed the 30-degree mark.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday as well, Bengaluru recorded 6.2 mm of rains. Counting on this, the city has observed a total of 46 mm of rains in the month of July. Whereas, the monthly average for the capital of Karnataka stands at 112.9 mm. Hence, it is still a way to go for the city to surpass its monthly mean.

In fact, the rains the city has seen in the last 24 hours is the lowest in a decade. It was in July 2009 when Bengaluru has recorded the lowest rains of 6.4 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, on account of the absence of any significant weather system, heavy rains are not anticipated as of now for the Garden City though Bengaluru will continue to enjoy the light spells for another 3-4 days. In the wake of this, the weather will continue to remain pleasant throughout the week but hefty showers are ruled out.
