Light rain in Kerala won’t mellow off the humid weather

Kerala, the God’s Own Country is famous for its picturesque beaches, backwater boat rides and green hills of Munnar. What makes the state an amazing tourist spot is the weather. But since last many days the people who are vacationing in Kerala must cry their hearts out as the temperatures across the states are above normal.

Temperatures are up by 2-4°C in many areas of the state. At present many areas of the state have registered temperatures more than 36°C. Places like Punalur, Kannur and Kozhikode have documented maximum temperatures reaching more than 36°C in the last 24 hours.

But now we can expect light rain to commence over some parts of Kerala. These rains will be light in nature and will be in patches. Since the intensity of rains will not be more than the drop in both minimum and maximum temperatures is not expected.

If fact these light rains will only help the humidity to increase violently. Sultry weather conditions are very much likely to prevail over the region. Discomfort during the day time is expected.

These light rains can be attributed to the trough that has formed from Maldives to North Konkan & Goa via coastal Kerala. Also a cyclonic circulation is seen over Comorin area, and from this system another trough is moving up to Madhya Maharashtra which likely to move towards Kerala.
