The neighboring cities of Mumbai and Pune have mainly remained dry for more than a month now. Though some drizzles were experienced by both the cities on May 24, these were in traces and were not recorded by the city’s observatories.
Prior to this short spell, Pune has recorded 3.7 mm of rains on May 14, meanwhile, March 16 was the last day when Mumbai’s observatories registered some traces. Since then, the two major cities of Maharashtra have been reeling under dry and warm weather conditions.
However, the jinx of the dry spell now seems to break as some pre-Monsoon activities are likely to occur over both the cities after 24 hours.

As per Skymet Weather, the wind along the coast is strengthening and this would, in turn, activate the pre-Monsoon activities over southern parts of Maharashtra, thereafter, moving further northwards.
The clouding would also increase after 24 hours over both Mumbai and Pune however, for the next 24 hours, the weather conditions over both the metro cities of Maharashtra would remain humid.
This would also lead to a marginal drop in the day temperatures of both the cities. The maximum temperature of Mumbai is expected to settle around 32-33 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the daytime high in Pune may get arrested between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius.
In addition to this, conditions are favorable for Southwest Monsoon to make an onset over Kerala coast during the next 48 hours after which it moves northwards and reaches Konkan division.
