Mumbai rains to remain on the backseat for some more time

The state of Maharashtra has been observing various shades of weather for the past few days. While dry weather conditions have been affecting parts of Konkan region along with the city of Mumbai, interior parts of Maharashtra have been recording a few good spells of rainfall.

The last 24 hours also saw weather conditions of a similar kind wherein some interior districts of the state did record rains while other parts remained as dry as a bone.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Amravati recorded 11 mm of rain, Nagpur 4 mm, Chandrapur 1 mm, Sholapur 1 mm and traces of rainfall in the disticts of Akola as well as Wardha.

An upper air trough, which was extending from Odisha to Coastal Karnataka across South Maharashtra, has been responsible for giving rains over the region. The system is now weakening and shifting southwards. Hence, dry and warm air mass likely to affect over most parts of the state.

However, due to presence of upper air trough, southern parts of South Madhya Maharashtra may receive light rains during next 24 hours. Cities including Kolhapur, Ratnagiri, Sangli, Osmanabad and Mahabaleshwar may witness light showers.

Meanwhile, cities including Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and adjoining areas will continue to remain dry with rainfall activities staying far away from the region.

After 48 hours, the entire state is expected to witness warm and dry weather conditions with day temperature witnessing a slight rise while minimums seeing a marginal drop.
