Rains over Maharashtra reduced further and now almost the entire state is recording very light rains. However, isolated pockets of Konkan has been recording some moderate showers.
On the last day, light with isolated moderate rains was recorded by Konkan, mainly South Konkan and South Madhya Maharashtra region. Meanwhile, Vidarbha recorded some isolated rains. The Marathwada and North Madhya Maharashtra regions, on the other hand, remained mainly dry.
In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am as on Thursday, Mahabaleshwar recorded 26 mm of rains, Harnai 9 mm, Kolhapur 5 mm, Nagpur 4 mm, Gondia 2 mm, Mumbai’s Santa Cruz Observatory recorded 1 while Colaba recorded 3 mm of rains, Ratnagiri 1 mm, Amravati 1 mm and Akola received 0.8 mm of rains.
The reason for the significant reduction in rains can be associated with the absence of any significant weather system. As of now also, rains are expected to continue on a declining trend.

For the next 24-48 hours, light to moderate rains are likely to continue over Vidarbha in regions like Nagpur and Gondia. Akola and Wardha may record some light spells. Konkan region may also receive some light rains with chances of moderate rains in pockets in districts like Mumbai, Vengurla, Ratnagiri, Mahabaleshwar, and Dahanu.
Parts of Madhya Maharashtra like Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara may observe scattered light rains. However, Marathwada is likely to remain mainly dry.
At this stage, let us see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Maharashtra:
Farmers of Vidarbha are advised to take proper care to avoid the incidences of pest and crop diseases like in red gram, Cotton, Soybean, and Turmeric.
In Marathwada, farmers should give protective irrigation through sprinkler to Kharif sown crops. In Konkan, farmers can give 2nd dose of Nitrogen to rice crop after one month of transplanting.
