Light rains likely over Ahmedabad, Surat, Kota, Jaipur, Alwar

Gujarat and Rajasthan have not been receiving good rains since the last few days. Although the southern districts of Gujarat and eastern parts of Rajasthan have managed to witness a few spells. Similarly, the last 24 hours were no different and these two states have continued to reel under dry and warm weather conditions. Only isolated places in Gujarat had observed light spell of rains

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Veraval in Gujarat has recorded a mere 1 mm of rainfall. Whereas, other parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan have not witnessed any significant spells.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, these weather conditions can be attributed to a low-pressure area which was seen over Chhattisgarh and adjoining regions. Moreover, an east-west trough is seen extending from this system and is moving in the West-Northwest direction.

With this, the rain belt is also likely to shift towards west giving light to moderate rains over the eastern parts of Rajasthan mainly the ones adjacent to Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in the next 24 hours. Whereas, the western districts of Rajasthan will continue to reel under warm and dry weather conditions for the next few days.

In fact, cities such as Kota, Alwar, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Dholpur, Sawai Madhopur and Chittorgarh are likely to receive light showers during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, from September 22 onward, the entire state will witness a declining trend in the rainfall activity.

Talking about Gujarat, a cyclonic circulation is seen over North Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining areas of Konkan. Due to this, light rains are expected to continue over the southern and eastern parts of Gujarat for the next 24 hours. In particular, cities such as Idar, Deesa, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Anand and Veraval will witness light Monsoon rains.

Moreover, light to moderate showers is expected to show up over the coastal and southern districts of Gujarat. Cities such as Surat, Bhavnagar, and Valsad will witness good rains.
