03:26 PM

About 12 people including 4 kids, were recently killed in Uttar Pradesh due to lightning strikes. A similar alert has been raised for the states of Bihar and Jharkhand. In the next 24 hours, the weather system that is in Uttar Pradesh will completely shift eastwards to Bihar and Jharkhand. Meanwhile, some amount of rain has already started in  Bihar, which by the end of the day is likely to start giving rain over parts of Jharkhand as well.

These rains will be of moderate intensity although thundershower, lightning, hailstorm and strong winds will pose some threat in the region. The weather activity will start to recede from the region by tomorrow afternoon.

An alert has been raised over parts of Northwest plains along with parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand as these states are vulnerable to lightning during this time of the year. Each year many lives are lost in lightning strikes. People are alerted against stepping out during heavy lightning and take cover immediately as weather deteriorates.

Not just lightning, possibility of hailstorm will raise the danger of crop damage. The rains however will provide some relief from the ongoing rain deficiency in Jharkhand.
