Low pressure area in Bay moving closer to Tamil Nadu coast, to intensify by Nov 26

rain in IndiaThe low pressure area in Andaman Sea has moved further in last 24 hours and is now seen over southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal. With system continuously travelling in open waters, it has also become more marked. In fact, conditions will remain favourable for its further intensification.

According to Skymet Weather, the low pressure will gradually move in west-southwest direction towards Sri Lanka and adjoining Tamil Nadu coast. It is most likely to induce a well-marked low pressure area around November 26. However, we will have to wait and watch whether the system will intensify further or not.

With this, the system will start giving heavy to extremely heavy rain over many parts of Sri Lanka and moderate to heavy rains over southern parts of Tamil Nadu around November 27.

Thereafter, rain belt will cover many parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and some parts of South Interior Karnataka. Rains over Chennai will also commence over around November 26 and are expected to peak by November 28-29. During that time, few moderate spell with few heavy spell are likely to lash the city.

Intensity will start decreasing after November 29 over South Tamil Nadu but light to moderate rain will continue during the first week of December.
