Heavy rains to lash parts of Madhya Pradesh

During the last 24 hours, moderate rains with one or two heavy spells were seen over Eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh. Places like Betul, Rewa, Khandwa, Pachmarhi and, Umaria recorded 1.2 mm, 3.2 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm and 24 mm of rains, respectively.

At present, West Madhya Pradesh is rain deficit by 18% and East Madhya Pradesh stands at a deficiency of 52%. The experts have to say that moderate to heavy rains will be seen over many parts of the state. Thus, rain deficiency is expected to drop further. A Low-Pressure Area which is over Odisha and adjoining parts would move in the west direction leading to increased rain activities in Madhya Pradesh. Khargone, Khandwa, Seoni, Balaghat, Seoni, Betul will be affected by these rains in the coming 24 to 48 hours. Ujjain too would witness moderate rain and thundershowers.

It is anticipated that good rains over East Madhya Pradesh would further intensify and would cover almost the entire state during the next 24 hours. However, the northern districts of the state like Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Shivpuri, and Sheopur would see isolated light rains. After 24-48 hours, the intensity of rains would start decreasing but scattered light to moderate rains will continue. These intermittent isolated rains will be moderate in nature which is expected to continue until June 6.

By the end of the week, the state of Madhya Pradesh is expected to fall under the normal rain category as these rains will help in diminishing the deficit levels.
