After the onset of Southwest Monsoon, the rain intensity has increased speedily over several parts of Uttar Pradesh; particularly the central and eastern regions are receiving good showers. Prior to this, rains remained far and few from these districts. In fact, the state did not see much rain during the pre-Monsoon period as well.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Kanpur recorded a whopping 112 mm of rainfall, followed by Banda 93 mm, Hamirpur 90 mm,  Lucknow 82 mm, Fursatganj 77 mm, Varanasi 61 mm, Bahraich 30 mm, Meerut 14 mm and Bareilly 13 mm.

According to weathermen at Skymet Weather, these weather conditions can be attributed to a trough that is seen extending from North Punjab to Northeast India across Uttar Pradesh. Also a cyclonic circulation is marked over eastern parts of the state. Besides this, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Uttar Pradesh.

As a result, we expect moderate rains to continue over many places of Uttar Pradesh along with isolated heavy to very heavy showers. Now, the western districts of Uttar Pradesh such as Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur and Bareilly will also receive good showers during the next 24 hours.

Moderate rain and thundershower may occur over many places, with heavy rain over some places of Agra, Aligarh, Allahabad, Amethi, Azamgarh, Badaun, Bahraich, Ballia, Banda, Barabanki, Bareilly, Basti, Bijnor, Bulandshahar, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Etah, Etawah, Faizabad, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Firozabad, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hamirpur, Hapur, Hardoi, Hathras, Jalaun, Jaunpur, Jhansi, Kannauj, Kanpur, Kasganj, Kaushambi, Kushinagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lalitpur, Lucknow, Maharajganj, Mainpuri, Mathura, Meerut, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Pratapgarh, Rae Bareli, Rampur, Sambhal, Shahjahanpur, Siddharth Nagar, Sitapur, Sultanpur, Unnao and Varanasi during the next 24 hours.
