The states of Madhya Pradesh as well as Rajasthan have been reeling under intense cold conditions. With the afterly passage of the Western Disturbance, winds are northerly in nature from down the slopes of the icy cold mountains sweeping across these states.
Before, day conditions were quite chilly with maximum temperatures settling way below the normal levels and fog making a comeback, but now, these weather conditions have subsided. Now, drop in night temperatures is being seen in the wake of the system. In fact, minimums have already started to drop in both these states resulting in cold wave conditions in parts.
For instance Mandla saw its minimum at 5.5 degrees, Khandwa 5.4 degrees, Dhar 6 degrees, Khajuraho 6 degrees, Dewas 6 degrees, Bhopal 5.3 degrees, Indore 6.8 degrees, Pachmarhi 1.5 degrees, Guna 5 degrees, Gwalior 5.2 degrees, Umaria 4.5 degrees, Nowgong 4 degrees, Rewa 4.6 degrees. All these minimums are at least 6-8 degrees below normal levels
In Rajasthan also, minimums are below normal levels with Bhilwara witnessing 2.8 degrees, Kota 6.8 degrees, Chittorgarh 3 degrees, Udaipur 3.6 degrees, Sikar 1.8 degrees and Sri Ganganagar 5.4 degrees. All these minimums are at least 4-6 degrees below normal.
Along with the cold wave, day temperatures are also below normal levels in some parts. Cold wave conditions for now are expected to continue for at least some time.
