Maharashtra Elections 2019: Intense rains might play a spoilsport

MaharashtraElection

As Maharashtra gets ready for legislative assembly polls this Monday, weather seems to be playing a major role. Maharashtra has been receiving good rains for the last few days now under the influence of a Low Pressure Area formed over Arabian Sea.

During the last 24 hours also, Mumbai’s Santa Cruz has received 18 mm rains, Pune received 38 mm, Harnai 59 mm, Alibag 22 mm, Kolhapur 46 mm, and Parbhani received 96 mm rains. Many other parts of Maharashtra have also received good rains. These rains are due to a Low Pressure Area which is persisting over Arabian Sea.

Scattered light to moderate rains will continue over Mumbai and suburbs today as well. Mostly light rains with one or two localized intense spells cannot be ruled out over Mumbai. Similarly, one or two good spells are expected over Pune, today.

By tomorrow, rains will reduce over Mumbai. However, many parts of Maharashtra will continue with rain activities tomorrow as well which is the election evening.

Tomorrow, we expect good rains over Marathwada and South Madhya Maharashtra. Intense spells over Madhya Maharashtra and South Madhya Maharashtra might pose some difficulty in the ongoing election process.

Rains will now reduce over other parts of Maharashtra particularly Konkan and Goa, North Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha. On and off rains will continue over these areas.

These on and off rains will continue over Maharashtra until October 23. Although on October 22 and 23 there will only be patchy rains over Madhya Maharashtra. Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan and Goa will get lesser amount of rains during that time.

Usually rains are on a receding note over Maharashtra during October. This is a good spell during post-Monsoon season for Mumbai, Pune as well as many other parts of Maharashtra.

After this rainy spell, weather will go dry over the region and we do not expect any significant weather activity over Mumbai, Pune or Maharashtra for next one week or so.
