Monsoon rains over Maharashtra have started witnessing a reducing trend now. In fact, comparatively, the rains had already reduced over most parts of the state on the last day. Vidarbha which witnessed heavy rains a day before, experienced light with isolated moderate rains.
On the other hand, rains over North Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra varied from light to moderate while, isolated heavy rains were observed over South Konkan region. Marathwada, on the contrary, continued to witness subdued rains with some isolated spells only.
In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Kolhapur recorded 32 mm of rains, Harnai 29 mm, Satara 22 mm, Ratnagiri 21 mm, Nashik 15 mm, Mumbai’s Colaba Observatory recorded 14 mm and Santa Cruz recorded 10 mm of rains, Gondia 12 mm, Parbhani 11 mm, Pune 6 mm, Nagpur 5 mm, Bramhapuri 3 mm and Alibag recorded 3 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, we expect isolated rains to continue over Marathwada. The intensity of rains may reduce over many parts of Madhya Maharashtra. The northern districts of Vidarbha such as Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, and Chandrapur may receive few good spells only.

Meanwhile, North Konkan region would continue to experience light to moderate showers. However, one or two heavy spells are likely over South Konkan for the next 24 hours.
The reason for these rains, as per Skymet Weather can be attributed to the prevalence of a cyclonic circulation over South Gujarat.
At this stage, let us see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Maharashtra:
Farmers in the Konkan region are advised to give proper support to Cucurbitaceae crops and to apply fertilizer when the intensity of rainfall is low. In Vidarbha, farmers are advised to undertake sowing of Kharif crops in unsown areas upon receipt of sufficient rainfall.
Farmers of Madhya Maharashtra are advised to undertake intercultural operations (weeding/hoeing) in early sown crops for timely control of weeds. Farmers are also advised to drain out excess water from waterlogged crop fields and orchards.
