Maharashtra to witness light pre-Monsoon rains

April 26, 2017 4:49 PM |

Rain in MaharashtraThe ongoing weather activity has kept the rising day temperatures under check. During the last week, mercury has not soared beyond the mid-40s, which is not common for the region. At present, most districts of Maharashtra have been recording below normal maximums and minimums at some places.

However, intense hot conditions will continue to prevail over few pockets.

Skymet Weather predicts that day temperatures will continue to settle below normal by two to three degrees at several places.

We see a trough extending from East India up to South Tamil Nadu that will give light and patchy rain and thundershower over Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and South Karnataka.

However, now, this weather system is moving towards Maharashtra, thus, rain activity over this region is likely to increase.

We expect some pre-Monsoon activities in parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada like isolated thunderstorms and thunder squalls along with rain for the next 24 hours.

According to weathermen, the culmination of humid winds from the Bay of Bengal and comparatively dry cool winds from Maharashtra will lead to the development of thunderclouds towards late afternoon and evening bringing light and patchy rains.

In the wake of this system, temperatures may drop further bringing the much-needed relief over this state.

With the pre-Monsoon activities gaining momentum, April is likely to end on rainy note for Maharashtra.
