After the wet spell, Gujarat and Rajasthan to go dry

March 27, 2020 9:49 PM |
Rajasthan and Gujarat Rains

At present Rajasthan is the most affected state in terms of rain and thundershowers. During the last 24 hours, almost all the districts of the state have received rains. Udaipur recorded 27 mm, Kota 18, Chittorgarh 17, Jaisalmer 15, Mount Abu 10, Jodhpur and Ajmer 9 mm each, Bikaner 8 and Bundi 6mm.

Similarly, many districts of Gujarat received light to moderate rains. Ahmedabad recorded 9mm, Gandhinagar 8, Bhuj 3, Naliya and Vadodara 1 mm each, Surat, Kandla and Porbandar also recorded light rainfall.

There are multiple weather systems responsible for these rains. A Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir, an induced cyclonic circulation over south Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan and another cyclonic circulation over Gujarat.

As of March 25th, Rajasthan is rain surplus by 222% and Gujarat is deficient by 14%. But today's rainfall will certainly make Gujarat near normal in terms of rain statistics.

Now we expect WD to move away eastward and simultaneously induced cyclonic circulations will also fade away. By tomorrow we think weather to clear up from both the states. Maximum temperatures which are below normal by 4 to 5 degree will once again start rising.
