Maximums of Rajasthan and Gujarat breach 45 degree, severe heat wave in many parts

Rajasthan Weather

Severe heat wave conditions are being witnessed over most parts of Rajasthan and parts of Gujarat. Alwar, Ganganagar, Phalodi and Churu districts of Rajasthan and Kandla Aerodrome of Gujarat have crossed 45 degree. Temperatures soaring to 45 degree in the first half of April is rare. Many districts of north Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh have also recorded maximum between 43 and 44 degree.

Reason for this severe heat wave can be attributed to the prolonged dry spell during March and beginning of April as well as dry and hot winds blowing from Balochistan, Central Pakistan and Thar desert of Rajasthan. There was no activation disturbance over Western Himalayas during March and first week of April. Absence of Western disturbance and pre monsoon activities over Northwest India are also responsible for this intense heat over Northwest and Central parts of the country.

There will not be any relief from ongoing hot weather conditions for at least next 3 to 4 days. A trough is likely to develop from eastern parts of Bihar to Northwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining parts of Uttarakhand by April 12th. This may trigger the onset of pre monsoon activities over parts of Northwest India which may have some impact in lowering the temperatures of Central India as well.

There may be some relief from ongoing heat wave conditions for northern plains. However, heat wave will continue over South Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Although, there may be marginal drop in maximums which may give slight relief.
