The weather of Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra has remained dry for the almost a month now. Apart from some isolated traces of rain that occurred on March 16, the weather has remained almost dry for Konkan & Goa.

However, Madhya Maharashtra region has remained mainly dry that led to rise in the temperatures and are settling close to the 40-degree mark. However, in parts of Konkan & Goa, the daytime high remained near normal.

As per Skymet Weather, in the next 48 hours, the temperatures of both the regions are expected to register a steep rise. This change in the temperature profile would be due to the change in the wind profile.

After 48 hours, the northeasterly-easterly winds are expected to blow over Maharashtra. These winds would be blowing over the region originating from the central parts of the country wherein the maximums are already soaring.

Thus, the weather would be hot and dry over both the regions. The weather along the coastal belt would become very hot and uneasy, leading to high discomfort levels as they are in the vicinity of the Arabian Sea.

Let us see the impact of this weather on the farming belt of Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra:

Farmers are advised to complete the harvesting of the late sown Wheat crop. Farmers are also suggested to continue harvesting of Grapes and Pomegranate.

Due to expected hot and dry winds, evaporation of soil moisture may take place and thus, they are recommended to irrigate the Ambiya Bahar crops like Mango, Pomegranate as well as Summer Groundnut & Maize crops, accordingly.
