November 18, 2018 4:13 PM |

The city of Chennai received light rains during the last 24 hours. At present a Low-Pressure Area is lying over Southeast Bay of Bengal. This system is likely to further move in West-northwestwards direction.

According to weathermen, till the evening of November 19, weather in Chennai is expected to remain dry. Both day and night temperatures will also increase slightly.

After 24 hours, the Low-Pressure Area will further intensify into a Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area on Southwest parts of Bay of Bengal and adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean.

Thereafter heavy rainfall is expected to commence. Rain intensity will remain heavy till November 19 and 20. After November 20, the rain intensity is expected to decrease. Further, light rains will continue till November 22.

Thereafter, due to the rainfall activities a significant fall in day temperatures is expected over the city. During next 24 hours, it is being forecast that the maximum temperatures in Chennai would be around 31 to 32°C and minimum temperatures will remain around 23 to 25°C.

At present, Chennai is running rain deficient by 59% as of November 18. These upcoming rains are sure to relieve the city of some of its deficiency, if not whole.
