Modi visits flood-hit Bihar today; announces relief fund

Bihar that reeled under severe flood attack and has reportedly claimed 418 lives in 19 districts was visited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi conducted an Arial survey of the flood-hit state to evaluate the condition.

Kishanganj, Purnea, Katihar and Araria districts of Seemanchal region in Bihar are the worst flood battered regions. After reviewing, PM announced an immediate relief of Rs 500 crore.

Incessant rains in parts of Bihar has deteriorated the weather of Bihar with the death toll mounting to 418 and crores of people in across 19 districts affected. Though, as of now, the flood water has receded in some parts of the state and people are prompted to return homes but the loss of human life is irreversible.

Apart from 28 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams that have been operational in the rescue mission of the inundated Bihar, 16 teams of State Disaster Response Force were also looped in to help flood-hammered people.

While the weather too now seems to give a positive news to the people of Bihar. As the rains are now likely to decrease over the state, a huge relief is in store.

As per Skymet Weather, due to a cyclonic circulation that persists over East Assam and a trough extending up to northeast Bihar across West Assam and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Due to the combined effect of these two weather systems, rains are likely to reduce over parts of Bihar.

The northern and northeastern parts of Bihar may receive scattered light rains. The southern districts may witness rains mainly due to localized development of thunderclouds. Though heavy to extremely heavy rains are not foreseen which may help in overcoming the already deteriorated situation.
