Monsoon 2019 to hit Hyderabad and Telangana soon, rains to intensify in coming week

Monsoon to hit Telangana soon

The normal onset date of Monsoon over southern districts of Telangana is June 5 and by June 10, the entire Telangana is covered by the Monsoon. Unfortunately, Monsoon onset is already delayed by twelve days as rains almost remained absent over this state. As a result, Telangana is rain deficient by 57%.

However, intermittent rain and thundershowers have been a sight over the state. As per the experts, rains would now pick up pace. Light, yet scattered rains will continue until June 19. The activity will be in the wake of a trough which is extending from East Bihar to Rayalaseema across Odisha and Telangana.

The intensity of rains is expected to peak from June 20 onward and thereafter, moderate to heavy showers would lash Telangana which would continue for good four to five days. These rains will be on an intermittent basis which is expected to mark the onset of Monsoon season over Telangana as well as Hyderabad. Despite the significant delay, the last ten days activity which will happen in the month of June might make up for the rain deficiency levels.

These increased rains will be due to the formation of a north-south trough extending from East Uttar Pradesh to Rayalaseema across Vidarbha and Telangana which will form around June 21. Moreover, a Low-Pressure Area is also expected to develop off Andhra coast and due to these humid winds from the Bay of Bengal will feed moisture to this state. With rains, temperatures will also see a dip. Thus, we can say that the onset of Monsoon will take place in yet another four days.
