Bengaluru rains

Bengaluru, the high-tech silicon city has been under siege with pouring monsoon rains for the last two days. The city received 40mm of rain in the past 24 hours and surpasses the monthly average of 89mm to record 103mm for the month so far. In the previous 24 hours also the city was lashed with good showers in many areas. Actually, the western suburbs have rained heavier than the rest resulting in localized flooding and waterlogging.

The city has been falling short of monthly targets in June for the last three consecutive years. The monthly normal rainfall figure keeps ascending till September which is the rainiest month with an average rainfall of 241mm.  Irrespective of these amounts during monsoon months, the city turns pleasant with a modest range of temperatures during day and night.

The monsoon is going to be normal for the next 2 days and moderate showers are expected over many parts. Due to activation of the peninsular India trough, moderate to heavy rains are expected in the subsequent 3 days. The month is going to end on a rainy note with total rains well above the monthly normal. Most of this activity will occur towards late evening and night hours and days are likely to remain cloudy and pleasant.
