August 8, 2021 1:56 PM |

Monsoon 2021 has been unique in many ways. Parts of India are flooded whereas many areas are witnessing severe drought. At the same time, the state of Rajasthan is witnessing contrasting weather conditions. The eastern part of Rajasthan has received 27% surplus rain whereas West Rajasthan is deficient by 5%.

Many Eastern districts of Rajasthan such as Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar and Bhilwara have been receiving heavy to very heavy rain since last many days. Most of the villages in these districts are battling the flood situation. On the other hand, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Pali, Jalore, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Banswara, Dungarpur and Sirohi are facing severe drought.

Successive low-pressure areas which developed over Bay of Bengal have moved in westerly direction up to west Madhya Pradesh. And has given heavy to very heavy rain over western part of Madhya Pradesh as well as Eastern part of Rajasthan. There was no significant weather system affecting Western parts of Rajasthan therefore rain activities were almost nil over western districts.

Now low-pressure area is weakening and moving over Uttar Pradesh. Rain activities for will subside significantly over Eastern parts of the Rajasthan. Western end of axis of monsoon trough will also shift to the foothills of Himalayas leading to break monsoon conditions. Western parts of Rajasthan I will not get any significant rain for at least next 6 to 7 days.
