Hefty Monsoon downpour continues in Telangana

July 20, 2016 5:19 PM |

Inside - Telangana

In the last 48 hours, Telangana has witnessed fairly widespread rain activity. This hefty rainy spell was due to a cyclonic circulation that was over Rayalaseema and adjoining Telangana. As on July 19, Telangana was 18% rain surplus.

Now this cyclonic circulation has shifted over to coastal Andhra Pradesh and gradually a trough is likely to develop from coastal Andhra Pradesh to North Madhya Pradesh across Telangana. Therefore, we expect good rains to visit many districts of Telangana in next few days as well. This rainfall is expected around July 20-21.

Hyderabad will also receive moderate to heavy showers during this period.

Almost every year during this time of Monsoon, Telangana and adjoining areas of interior Karnataka normally receive less rainfall in comparison to nearby areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Vidarbha. But this year back to back weather systems forming in Bay of Bengal and moving towards mainland have given incessant rains over rain-deficit areas of Telangana and other parts of Karnataka.

We expect that the trend of being rain surplus will continue in July and the rain statistics will only improve as the on and off good rains will continue in the state.
