July 25, 2016 7:30 AM |

Arunachal Floods 1

Flood situation has already wreaked havoc the Northeast states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The relentless Monsoon rains have only added to plight of the people living there. The region of Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh has a tale of three digit rain to tell.

In the last 24 hours, Pasighat received 146.9 mm of rainfall. This persistent rainfall has further aggravated the flood situation in the region.

These unstoppable rains are happening from sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Arunachal Pradesh. The River Brahmaputra was flowing above the danger level throughout its length of 890 km in Assam.

In Bongaigaon district of Assam, more than 84000 people have been affected. In some of the areas of the districts, electric supply has been interrupted due to heavy rain and flood.

But the sad part is that these rains will continue to wreck the Northeast India for next 24 hours. The entire belt from sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Arunachal Pradesh will continue to receive heavy to very heavy rain in the next 24 hours. There may be some dip in the intensity of rains after 24 hours but further rains are predicted by Skymet Weather.
