As reiterated by Skymet, heavy Monsoon rains in Mumbai continued to hamper life yesterday. As the deep depression in Arabian Sea moved closer to the Gujarat coast, it resulted in heavy rains in parts of Gujarat and parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai.

Yesterday, several places in Mumbai recorded rainfall over 200 mm in one single day in a span of 12:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. The rainfall figures recorded by the AWS installed in different locations in Mumbai by Skymet are:

The Tuesday morning brought back the memory of last Thursday as Mumbaikars woke up to heavy rains today. Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over Mumbai since past week, due to the cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea and the off-shore trough extending from the system, across the Western Ghats.

In last ten hours, from 12:00 a.m. on Monday to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, several places in Mumbai recorded rainfall over 100 mm. The rainfall figures recorded by the AWS installed in different locations in Mumbai by Skymet are:

Updated on 22 June, 2015: Monsoon rains in Mumbai in last 5 days

It is natural for different pockets to receive varying intensity of rainfall. For public interest, Skymet has installed Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) for recording rainfall (particularly during Monsoon) in Mumbai and the National Capital, Delhi. Here’s a look at the rainfall figures recorded by the AWS installed in different locations in Mumbai by Skymet, from June 18 to June 21:

It can be clearly seen from the above table that the rainfall has been widespread in Mumbai, most of the stations have recorded more than 1000 mm of rainfall in a span of just four days. The rainfall will continue but, on a reducing note during the next 24 hours. However, the intensity of rainfall will increase after 48 hours .
