Kerala Rain post

Moderate to heavy Monsoon rains have lashed the state of Kerala in the past 24 hours. These showers have resulted in pleasant weather conditions over “the God's own country”.

As of now, both the day and night temperatures have been settling below the normal levels. Hence, we can say that Monsoon 2017 continues to be active over the state of Kerala.

During the past 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Kozhikode recorded 55 mm of rainfall, Palakkad 35 mm, Kannur 9 mm, and Thiruvananthapuram 4 mm. While, Alappuzha and Kochi recorded traces of rainfall.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to the active off shore trough that runs along the West Coast from South Konkan to Kerala. In addition to this, a cyclonic circulation is also seen over Coastal Maharashtra and adjacent areas.

Weathermen at Skymet Weather expect the weather conditions to remain conducive for more rains over parts of Kerala during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, the intensity of rains will decrease but light showers are likely to continue.

Morning and nights will remain contented, followed with humid days and maximums that will settle around 32-34 degrees.

As on September 18, Kerala is rain deficient by 9 percent. With these ongoing good Monsoon showers, the rain deficiency has already come down quite a lot.
