Monsoon rains to reduce in Northeast India over next 2 days

rain in northeast india Northeast India has been receiving incessant rainfall for the last many days. However, it seems like relief is in the offing. Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have seen flood-like situation this July. In fact, the flood situation still remains grim in Assam.

Rescue operations are being carried on in the state. According to media reports, eight baby rhinos have been rescued over the last few days from the flood-hit Kaziranga National Park by a joint team of the Assam forest department and Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation. The calves were separated from their mothers by the flood waters.

Assam has received heavy rains during last 24 hours as well. Mazbat recorded 99.4 mm of rainfall. Here’s a look at the rainfall figures in Assam and rest of Northeast India during last 24 hours:

Rain in Northeast India

Light to moderate showers will continue over Northeast India during next 24 hours. Thereafter, intensity of rainfall will reduce and only scattered light rains will continue for the next 2 days.

Skymet Weather predicts that rainfall intensity will increase once again after 2 to 3 days. This might hamper the relief and rescue operations going on in the flooded districts of Northeast India.
