Weather systems and Forecast:
A Cyclonic Circulation is over Southwest Madhya Pradesh. An offshore Trough is extending from the Maharashtra coast up to the Kerala coast. This Trough will gain more strength now and good rains are expected over Madhya Maharashtra, right from Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur to Ahmednagar, Nashik, Malegaon, and Pune during the next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, rains will taper over the region.
Talking about North Konkan and Goa including Mumbai, rains here have remained on the lower side, during the last 24 hours. In fact, the weather remained almost dry. However, with the Trough gaining strength, rains are expected to intensify over Mumbai and the suburbs during the next 24 hours. Further, we expect, heavy rains to lash north coastal Maharashtra including Mumbai June 27 onwards.
Meanwhile, the intensity of rains will decrease in Vidarbha and Marathwada. This is because the Cyclonic Circulation that was over Chhattisgarh has now shifted further towards the west, thus leading to a decrease in rains.
