Cyclone Mora takes away heavy Bengaluru rains

Since the arrival of Southwest Monsoon along the West Coast and southern states, the city of Bengaluru has just been recording on and off light rain and thundershowers. No doubt, there were some occasions when the city received moderate showers. However, in the entire month of June, the city has not recorded that typical Monsoon showers that it should have.

It’s been just five days of July and the city has recorded light rain over isolated parts. The last 24 hours were also not very different as Bengaluru recorded 0.8 mm of very light showers.

These rains can be attributed to localized weather phenomenon which resulted in the formation of cloud over the area.

According to weathermen at Skymet Weather, Bengaluru will remain almost dry during the next few days, however there are chances of very light rains over a few areas.

Bengaluru July

Take a look at the live lightning and thunderstorm status across Bengaluru

Bengaluru usually observes rains when a north-south trough forms over Interior Karnataka or any cyclonic circulation or a low-pressure area develops over Southwest Bay and move inland. At present, no significant weather system is expected and hence, Bengaluru and nearby areas will not get to see good showers.

Further, the Monsoon surge is also not very active over the region. For the month of July, the average rainfall for Bengaluru stands at 112.9 mm.
