Gujarat Rains

Gujarat at present is one of the driest states in the country. Rain deficiency of Saurashtra and Kutch is 55% whereas the Gujarat region is deficient by 43%. Rainfall activities have picked pace over parts of Gujarat particularly Southern districts of the state during the last 24 to 48 hours. Moderate rain occurred over Keshod, Veraval, Bulsar, Surat, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Amreli, and parts of Ahmedabad. Deesa also recorded light rain activities.

Light to moderate rain activities is expected to continue over many parts of Gujarat for at least the next 3 to 4 days. Isolated pockets of Gujarat may receive short heavy spells too. Cloudy sky associated with upcoming rains will certainly drop the temperatures by two to three degrees and the weather may become pleasant.

After the cyclone Tauktae, most parts of Gujarat recorded moderate to heavy showers. In the initial period of June, many districts of the state recorded good rain. These rains prompted the farmers to sow the crops early. Since the second week of June weather of Gujarat remained almost dry, leading to substantial damage to crops. The next one week seems to be promising in terms of rain. The rain deficiency of Bihar may come down to some extent, and there will be significant relief to farmers.
