Monsoon to revive over Uttar Pradesh

August 20, 2023 3:10 PM |

In the last 2 to 3 days, we have not seen enough rain over Uttar Pradesh. The reason is the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal which has moved across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and now over the eastern part of Madhya Pradesh. The moisture concentration is over the Central parts of the country. Therefore, moderate to heavy rain is going on over parts of Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha.

The low-pressure area is expected to recover in the northeast direction towards Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 to 48 hours leading to the revival of monsoon over Uttar Pradesh. As on August 19, East Uttar Pradesh is still rain deficient by 34%. West Uttar Pradesh was surplus 16% on July 31st. But due to the break monsoon conditions, rain activities reduced significantly, and now west Uttar Pradesh is deficient by 01%.

The western end of the axis of the monsoon trough is also over Central India. But as the low-pressure area will move in the northeast direction the monsoon trough will also move over Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh may witness moderate showers between August 22 and 26. By the end of this rain spell, the rain deficiency of the state may come down to some extent.
