As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the low-pressure area which is over East Uttar Pradesh would shift towards the state of Bihar. Along with this, a cyclonic circulation is also persisting over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining South Bangladesh.

Under the impact of these weather features, moderate to heavy rains are likely to lash north and central districts of West Bengal like Malda, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, and Darjeeling.

Whereas, light to moderate rains are expected over Kolkata, Bardhaman, and Midnapore.

In the same time, North Odisha may observe good rain and thundershowers including cities like Balasore, Keonjhargarh, Baripada and Cuttack.

On the other hand, the intensity of the showers will remain light over southern districts of the state like Titlagarh and Koraput.

Hence, the rain showers are anticipated to continue over many parts of West Bengal for at least the subsequent three to four days.

The intensity of rain will differ in northern districts of Odisha, while subdued showers may continue over South Odisha for the next few days.

As on August 1, the state of Odisha is rain surplus by 7%, whereas West Bengal remains rain deficit by 15%.
