More parts of East India to observe Heatwave conditions

June 8, 2015 12:25 PM |

Since the last 3 to 4 days, most parts of East India have been experiencing hot and dry weather conditions. Before this, the region had received scattered rain which was keeping temperatures in the normal range. But, due to no weather activity in these pockets the temperatures have been increasing significantly.

East India HeatMany parts of Bihar and isolated pockets of Jharkhand are reeling under heatwave conditions. No weather activity is expected in the region for at least one week. Therefore, a marginal increase in day temperatures is expected due to hot and dry weather conditions in Bihar and isolated pockets of Jharkhand.

More stations in East India are expected to witness soaring temperatures. For instance, Allahabad and Varanasi are on the verge of experiencing heatwave conditions. The temperatures in these areas have already been recording 3 degrees above normal.

Hot and dry winds from the west-northwest direction will continue to blow over the entire East as well as Northwest India. For at least one week, no relief is expected. Moreover, Monsoon has covered most parts of Northeast India along with some parts of East India. Therefore, a gradual rise in humidity is expected which will further increase discomfort levels in the entire region.

When temperatures are high and cross the 40-degree mark, a slight rise in the humidity levels increases the temperature, further increasing the distress levels.
