Mumbai Rains get hefty at 103 mm, showers to continue

The wait for a few good spells of Mumbai rains has finally come to an end after a long time. So much so that the maximum city after witnessing a prolonged almost rain free period is back to witnessing hefty rains.

After the Mumbai floods episode, the city of Mumbai had become practically dry with only very light rains making an appearance. However, the last 24 hours were a little too different for the city that never sleeps.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Santa Cruz observatory in Mumbai recorded a whopping 103 mm of rainfall. Not only this, the Colaba observatory also witnessed heavy spells of rain to the tune of 59 mm.

These weather conditions have been attributed to the presence of a trough which is extending from the North Madhya Maharashtra region to Southeast Arabian Sea across Konkan and Goa in proximity of Mumbai.

Thus, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, on and off rains of varying intensity will continue to lash the city of Mumbai. However, the city is not likely to face the deluge that had caused chaos in the capital city of Maharashtra about two weeks ago.

With these rains, Mumbaikars will finally heave a sigh of relief with the weather conditions being pleasant and temperatures witnessing a drop. These Monsoon showers are expected to stay for at least two to three days giving Mumbaikars a few joyous rainy days before Monsoon finally comes to an end.
