Mumbai Rains

During the last 24 hours, the Santacruz observatory of Mumbai recorded 23 mm rain and Colaba recorded 3 mm of rain. Many other suburbs also recorded moderate showers.

A cyclonic circulation is seen over North coastal Maharashtra in low levels. The east-west shear zone is also running close to the proximity of north Maharashtra. A low pressure area is over interior Odisha which is enhancing the monsoon surge over the West Coast.

All the weather parameters are favourable for intense rain activities over Mumbai and suburbs for next 24 to 48 hours. We expect moderate showers along with few heavy spells to lash Mumbai and suburbs, leading to waterlogging in low lying areas.

These rain activities over Mumbai and suburbs will not be continuous. There will be short break in between therefore, we do not expect much inconvenience to Mumbaikars. The weather of Mumbai and suburbs will remain pleasant as the temperatures will fall and the sky condition will remain cloudy to overcast.

This may be the last heavy spell over Mumbai and suburbs during this Monsoon. Although the monsoon withdrawal will be in the first half of October, the rain in the month of October is counted in the post-monsoon season.
