Mumbai rains surpass monthly mean in less than a week, more showers aheadMumbai rains displayed a power packed performance in the last few days. After the official departure of the Southwest Monsoon, it seemed like Mumbai rains would come to a halt. The month of October usually witnesses lesser rains.

In fact, Mumbai receives one sixth of the rains during October as it does in September. The four month long Southwest Monsoon only brought good news for the residents of the maximum city. All these months ended on a surplus note.

Now, five days have passed in October and Mumbai rains still continue. The last 24 hours have not been any different with the city receiving good rains. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Santa Cruz observatory in Mumbai received 18.6 mm of rain. Light rains of 4 mm was also observed at the Colaba observatory.

In barely six days, Mumbai has recorded 76.9 mm of rainfall against its monthly mean of 55 mm. During the last two years, Mumbai could not even surpass its monthly mean in October and recorded a mere 31.3 mm and 23.4 mm of rainfall, respectively.

During the next 24 hours, the city is expected to receive more rains of light to moderate intensity which will further add to the already excess rain figures. In fact, the city is expected to receive light to moderate rains for the entire week.
