Mumbai rains to continue as Monsoon to remain active

July 4, 2018 7:34 PM |

mumbai-rainsAfter recording three-digit rainfall on past day, Mumbai has been recording light rains with few moderate spells on Wednesday. In spam of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Santa Cruz Observatory recorded 118 mm of rains, followed by 73 mm of rain at Colaba Observatory.

However, we expect Mumbai rains to pick up pace by evening or night hours. We can expect some moderate to heavy rains to lash the city again tonight.

As reiterated before these showers can be attributed to the active off-shore trough running along the West Coast from South Gujarat to Kerala.

According to weathermen, the Monsoon surge will continue to be active all along Coastal Maharashtra during the next few days as well. All thanks to the fresh cyclonic circulation has been brewing in North Bay of Bengal. The system is likely to get more organised during the next 24 hours.

In wake of this, intensity of Mumbai rains is also likely to increase, and we can expect some good showers during the next two days.  There is a possibility for the city to record another spell of 3-digit rainfall.

Overcast sky, light rains and strong breeze have kept the weather extremely pleasant. Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail for the next few days.

June ended on a rainy note. In fact, the month saw over rainfall above 800 mm mark, which was almost double the rainfall than its monthly average of 493 mm.
