Showers in MumbaiMonsoon is the most awaited season in Mumbai, wherein the entertainment capital gets drenched by heavy rains.

Mumbai recorded moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers between June 8-14 which marked the onset of Monsoon over the city on June 12. These good rains were due to initial Monsoon surge and persistent off shore trough along the West Coast from South Gujarat to Kerala.

Thereafter, systems have weakened and since then rains have reduced significantly and the city is only recording light and patchy in nature. With this, day temperatures have increased, leading to warm and humid weather conditions. In fact, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Mumbai recorded mere 1 mm of rain. Prior to this on Monday, city received 6 mm of showers only.

With this, Mumbai which is famous for 3-digit rainfall during June, has received only 204.8 mm of rain till now. There is still a long way to go as its monthly average stands high at 582 mm.

Further, we expect similar weather conditions to continue for next 3-4 days and city will only have to manage with light showers.

However, Monsoon is likely to revive once again by June 25. According to Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over South Gujarat and adjoining Arabian Sea that will once again strengthen the Monsoon surge. And with this, Mumbai rains would start receiving good showers from June 26 or 27, wherein city may receive heavy rains.
