No recovery rains for Gujarat, deficiency to make situation even more grim in August

August 13, 2021 4:49 PM |

The state of Gujarat is currently the most deficient pocket in the country. The state had started off alright with the month of June giving decent rains over Gujarat region. However, July onward, the state has seen deficient rains and it seems like since then, the deficiency has only been on the increasing side.

In fact, the perpetual shortfall in terms of rains even continues today, and the largest deficit is over Gujarat and Saurashtra and Kutch region at -45 and -48 percent respectively. Normally, the low pressure areas, there is a chance of the system giving some good showers over Gujarat, while they are over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining rajasthan.

However, the upcoming system which is likely to end the break Monsoon period over the country will not benefit Gujarat much. Thus, the deficiency is only going to mount up further. There may be some light rainfall activities over the state in the coming ten days, but no significant rainfall activity is in sight.

The situation for Gujarat looks grim as no recovery rains are expected for the state at least for the month of August. The deficient rain figures may see a massive rise when the month ends, with no rainfall in sight.
