No relief from Assam Floods in coming days

May 18, 2022 8:55 PM |

The state of Assam has been reeling under flood conditions for quite some time now. At least 8 people have died and four lakh people have been affected due to the ongoing floods.

Lower Assam, bordering Bangladesh and West Bengal including Bongaigaon, Goalpara, Kangru, Dhubri, Majbat and extending up to Guwahati as well will be more affected with heavy rains also likely to lash some parts of Meghalaya.

The flood situation is not expected to improve anytime soon because rainfall activity will continue over Upper Assam as well, on either side of Brahmaputra. Water bodies including Brahmaputra and its tributaries will continue to rise as the rainfall will be seen on either side of the Brahmaputra River.

Flood situation in Assam will continue to remain grim for at least the next two to three days as it does take some time for the water bodies to recede.
