No respite from foggy mornings in Amritsar, Gorakhpur, Patna, Guwahati

Punjab and Haryana Fog

Fog continues to grip most parts of the country. Foggy mornings have been prevailing in most parts of East, Central, North, Northwest and Northeast India.

Today also, most of the regions of the country remained engulfed under thick fog layer. In fact, dense to very dense fog prevailed during the early morning hours in parts of Punjab, North and East Rajasthan, Haryana, North Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Indo-Gangetic plains, Delhi, Bihar, North Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Assam.

The lowest visibility of fewer than 25 meters was observed at Patiala, Ambala, Lucknow, Bahraich, Sultanpur, Gorakhpur, and Patna. Whereas Gwalior, Satna, Fursatganj, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Purnea and Kailashahar recorded the visibility dropping to 50 meters each.

Delhi (Palam), Agra, Bareilly, Haflong, Guwahati, and Varanasi recorded the visibility of up to 200 meters each. While of up to 500 meters each was observed in Amritsar and Ludhiana.

As per Skymet Weather, a feeble Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and its associated upper air trough are extending along the foothills of Himalayas from Punjab to Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

This weather system led to the formation of a dense fog layer. Moreover, the temperatures over these areas are also lo and the humidity levels are high which added to the fog formation.

Skymet Weather further reiterates that the foggy weather is expected to prevail over these areas for at least another 2 days.
