Northeast India to witness dry days soon

Most parts of Northeast India have been experiencing dry weather conditions since the last few days. However, on and off rains were witnessed over eastern parts of Assam. In fact, Arunachal Pradesh also recorded scattered rain and snowfall activity.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh received light to moderate rain and thunder shower activities. North Lakhimpur recorded 15.8mm of rain and Itanagar recorded 1mm. In the similar time frame, Dibrugarh and Pasighat recorded traces of rain.

However, the remaining states of Northeast continued to remain dry. Moreover, temperatures over Assam and Arunachal Pradesh dropped marginally. Whereas, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura along with Meghalaya witnessed a rise of 2-3°C in their temperatures.

Now, Light to moderate rains are expected to continue over many parts of East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh till February 10. Along with this, few places in North Nagaland may also receive light rain activities during the next 48 hours.

In the next 24 hours, weather is expected to remain cloudy over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh. Thereafter, cloud amount will start decreasing. Minimum temperatures are also expected to rise across the northeastern states, while a fall by 2-3°C is anticipated.
