Northeast Monsoon to become active, rains to be seen in many parts of South India

December 1, 2022 10:20 AM |

Starting today, many parts of South India are expected to see some rains and the Northeast monsoon will become active for some time at least. In view of the increase in strength of easterlies, which control the Northeast Monsoon, rains will increase starting today.

During this time, all five sub divisions will be covered in terms of rains right from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, South interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Rains will be light today. There will be some increase in rainfall activities tomorrow that is December 2 and light rains with a few moderate spells can be seen.

On December 3 and 4, rains will be moderate with heavy at some places. On December 5 and 6, rains will take a break as a fresh system will form in Andaman Sea and begin its movement closer to the coast. During its movement towards the coast, rains will remain concentrated around the system over the sea, due to which, rainfall activity will reduce in South India.

On December 7 and 8, as the system will cross coast, many parts of South India will see some rains once again. Rains will be more over Kerala, Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka as compared to Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
