Northern plains of India including regions right from Punjab to Bihar have been deprived of good Monsoon showers. The region observed some good rains in the initial days of the month but since then, only light scattered rains have been observed.

Monsoon is expected to remain subdued for another 48 hours over entire northern plains excluding Eastern part of Bihar which has been under the influence of some good on and off rains.

A cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh is keeping the axis of Monsoon trough towards the central parts of the country. Due to this, the central region of India is witnessing moderate to heavy showers.

This cyclonic circulation is now expected to become feeble within next 2 days. This will also lead to the axis of the Monsoon trough to move towards North over Indo-Gangetic plains.

By July 14, rain intensity over the northern plains of the country is again expected to rise and states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and entire Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive fairly widespread light to moderate rains.

In fact, one or two places may also witness heavy showers. These rains are expected to last till July 19 and during this period, most of the states which are right now observing a normal rainfall may also reach in the excess rainfall category.

Haryana, Delhi and Chandigarh region is still 5 percent rain deficient than the normal rainfall. Possibilities are that these regions might witness rainfall in excess of normal.
