Northwest Plains of India to witness rise in mercury

March 16, 2017 4:45 PM |

Spring in Delhi

The recent pre-Monsoon rains that occurred over the northwestern plains of Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh brought some relief from the prevailing warm and humid weather. Due to these showers, maximum temperatures had curtailed down by few notches below the normal average.

Now, Skymet Weather predicts the temperatures to rise once again due to a fresh Western Disturbance approaching the Western Himalayas. Under the influence of this system, both day and night temperatures are expected to scale up but marginally. Day will become warm, but nights will remain cool and comfortable.

As we proceed ahead, by March 18 scattered rain and thundershowers activities are expected to commence over Punjab, Haryana, adjoining Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh. Delhi may see some rain activity by March 19. Besides this, strong winds also cannot be ruled out.

These upcoming showers can be associated with the approaching fresh Western disturbance over the hill of North India. This system is expected to induce a cyclonic circulation over the northwestern plains. With this system, the plains of Northwest India will witness some rain and thundershowers. This would in turn, bring down the temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees, leading to pleasant day and nights.
